This summer 2022, we are offering larger packages of robotic therapy pets for municipalities and care homes.
We believe these animals have the greatest impact when they are available throughout an organisation and residents can easily access their favourite animal. Some people like dogs, others prefer cats.
Animals mean a great deal to us. When cognitive abilities decline and a person can no longer care for their own pet, it leaves a gap. The same is true when someone moves into a care home and cannot bring their pet. An interactive robotic pet can then be a good alternative to help the individual feel better.
Robotic therapy pets mean a great deal to those who spend time with them.
They reduce anxiety and provide reassurance.
They evoke memories and make positive conversations possible.
I have personally received feedback that people no longer need medication for anxiety and worry, and that anxious people with sleep difficulties suddenly sleep peacefully all night. The ward becomes calmer, making things easier for staff and everyone who lives there.
There is a wealth of research and evidence about their benefits. Sometimes, though, it is enough to look at ourselves. Joy is contagious!
Another reason we have created larger packages is that I believe in introducing welfare technology widely.
That is when it really makes a difference.
