About Wera Welltech

The calls to my grandfather via a regular phone no longer worked once he no longer remembered who he was talking to – it became confusing for both of us. He was on the mainland and I was on Gotland, and the sea between us made it difficult to visit him physically. Eventually I no longer dared to call, afraid of leaving him confused.

Grandfather Nils was 95 years old and slowly became sicker with his dementia. That's when I decided to use my drive and knowledge to make a real difference for people. When grandfather got help using a tablet at the nursing home, we could have video calls together – it became easier to talk when we saw each other, and I saw when he remembered who I was. It meant a lot to both of us.

I have a master's degree in computer science and have held several IT roles in both government and private companies. What's clear to me is that IT solutions have no value in themselves – it's only when they solve a real need that they create value. After several years as an IT specialist, I spent a couple of years as a development manager on Gotland, where together we made several improvements for the municipality's residents, and where a project I led won the Region's Innovation Award.

Wera Welltech was founded in the fall of 2021. Now we help many more create moments of connection, activity and security.
