How to clean robot animals and digital therapy animals

Instructions for cleaning a digital therapy animal

Robot animals contain electronics and cannot withstand soaking or the washing machine. Here's how to clean by hand:

Spray the fur with a non-toxic cleaning spray, for example DailyClean, and wipe with a clean towel.
Repeat as needed until the animal is clean.
Let the animal dry thoroughly and gently dry the fur with a dry towel.
Brush the animal with a brush, preferably made of wood and boar bristles.
Wipe the animal with a disposable antibacterial wipe, for example Tork Wet Wipes for Surface Disinfection, which kills 99.99% of all bacteria.

For lighter dirt, steps 4 and 5 are enough. The recommendation is to have personal digital therapy animals, or to sanitize hands before and after use if the animal is shared among several people.

Verified with bacteria tests

Wera Welltech had the cleaning instructions verified using contact plates from Hygiene-diagnostics, a method used in the food industry for self-monitoring. A soiled animal was tested before and after cleaning: the contact plate from the dirty animal showed abundant bacterial growth, while the plate after cleaning showed no bacteria at all after 48 hours of incubation at 32 degrees.

A separate test on a cat that had been at a trade fair showed 5 spots (bacteria/yeast) before cleaning with only a wet wipe, and 0 spots afterwards.

Equipment for self-checking

An ATP meter, for example the 3M Clean-Trace LM1, makes it possible to see within a minute whether the cleaning routine has worked. Standard price around 22,000 kr excluding VAT.
