Staffanstorp leading the way with digital life story

From paper form to living story

At the day-care services Magnoliaträffen and Villa Magnolia in Staffanstorp, run by Forenade Care on behalf of Staffanstorp municipality, around 20 people with dementia attend daily. Previously, the life story was collected via a paper booklet that was often difficult to get back filled in.

Manager Eva saw the possibilities

Eva Elgan, operations manager, drove through the introduction of MinMemoria from VilMer. Now more relatives — not just one spouse or child — can contribute information continuously, giving more perspectives on the person's life.

– Now during the summer, we're noticing that our substitutes quickly get to know the clients better, since they can easily find topics to talk about, says Eva.

Over 1,000 messages in six months

Group leader Hanna Malm says communication with relatives has changed radically — from printed daily logs that were often forgotten in jacket pockets to direct messages and photos sent via phone. After six months, over 1,000 messages had been sent.

Source and context

According to the National Board of Health and Welfare, over 98 percent of people with dementia should have a documented life story, which forms the basis for this initiative.
