Many people have had pets before and have fond memories of those periods in their lives. Robotic companion pets can therefore encourage conversation and memories, as well as having a calming and entertaining effect. In many cases, robotic pets can also be a good alternative to a real therapy animal.
The robotic pets have lifelike fur and built-in sensors that respond to touch and movement. The robotic dogs bark happily when spoken to or stroked on the nose, turn their heads towards sounds, wag their tails and develop a noticeable heartbeat when held for a while. The Joy For All robotic cat purrs, meows and moves its legs, head, ears and torso when touched, just like a real cat. Metakatt purrs, meows, has heartbeat sounds and moves its head and tail. It also has voice commands and eye animations.
How to use it:
Hold the robotic pet in a way that feels natural and real. Touch its fur and observe its reactions. It may feel natural to talk about your own pets, or simply sit quietly and cuddle the robotic pet.
