Fufuly is a calming robotic cushion that breathes by gently filling with air and releasing it. It uses Deep Breathing Technology, which imitates the way people and animals naturally synchronise their breathing with those nearby. Take a break, hold Fufuly and breathe deeply. Let its soothing rhythm embrace you. Take a moment to breathe and find peace.
Fufuly is a unique, calming robotic cushion created by Japan’s Yukai Engineering. It is designed to help you relax by mimicking a natural breathing rhythm, encouraging stillness, focus and inner harmony.
Imagine a cushion that slowly rises and falls as if it were breathing. That is exactly what Fufuly does. Its technology is based on a natural phenomenon in which our breathing instinctively adjusts to the rhythms of those close to us, creating calm, reassurance and a sense of presence.
This is the essence of Deep Breathing Technology.
Hold the cushion close, take deep breaths and feel your body settle.
Fufuly is simple and intuitive to use.
Holding it for just 10 minutes is enough to create a lasting effect.
Choose from three modes – Rest, Focus and Sleep – to suit the moment.
Let your body follow its rhythm.

Unwind anytime, anywhere.

Take a break. Hold the cushion to adjust your breathing. This can improve your performance at work.

Having trouble falling asleep? Feel the cushion breathe in your arms and settle down in no time.

With sedentary work, poor posture and factors such as stress affecting our breathing, it is no surprise that many of us have developed disrupted breathing patterns. These can affect both our physical and mental wellbeing.
To address this need, JT, Hakuhodo and Yukai Engineering Inc. began a joint project to make deep breathing natural and accessible in everyday life. With research support from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (Human Environment and Informatics Laboratory), Fufuly was born – a product developed to support recovery and balance during moments of rest.
Fufuly uses Deep Breathing Technology, inspired by the scientifically documented phenomenon of rhythmic synchronisation, in which our bodies instinctively follow the rhythms of other living beings.
When you hold a cushion that “breathes”, your own breathing tends to synchronise automatically with its rhythm and depth.
The result is greater calm, reduced stress and improved concentration.

In 2017, researchers at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, Human Environment and Informatics Laboratory (Warisawa, Fukui, Kometani and Ban Labs), began studying rhythmic synchronisation. Their findings, presented at an international conference in 2018, received the prestigious Emerging Technologies Award.

Development of a Cushion-Shaped Device to Induce Respiratory Rhythm and Depth for Enhanced Relaxation and Improved Cognition. Frontiers Comput. Sci. 4: 770701 (2022)
Fufuly won the prestigious CES Innovation Award in the Robotics category. This unique product combines innovative design with pioneering technology and has impressed both the judges and the industry. With its focus on creating a calming, interactive experience, Fufuly has quickly become a favourite among technology enthusiasts.
The product has also attracted attention from media around the world, including leading publications such as TechCrunch and The Washington Post.
Charging, use and care – find the answers here.
Charge the cushion first. Once charged, press and hold the power switch to turn it on or off. The power switches off automatically after 180 minutes of use. If more than 180 minutes have passed since it was last used, you need to turn it on again. If it still does not work after a full charge, contact our customer service team.
You can remove the cushion cover and wash it by hand. Place it in lukewarm water with a small amount of detergent, squeeze gently to remove dirt, and dry it flat to prevent the material from stretching.
When Fufuly is fully charged, charging stops automatically and the LED turns off. If the cushion has been left uncharged for a long time, such as several months, the LED may not flash even when the charger is connected. If it starts flashing after a few hours, it is charging normally, so please check again later. A full charge takes approximately 5 hours. If it does not charge after the charger has been connected for several hours, contact our customer service team.
Fufuly’s power switch is in the opening beside the zip. The charging port is on the other side of the LED. Press and hold the power switch to turn it on or off, and press it once to change the mode.
The power plug has an adapter for Swedish sockets. Removing the adapter allows it to be used in countries with different sockets, such as Japan and the USA.
If the red LED flashes twice per second:
Turn the power off and on again, then connect the charging cable to a power source. Check that the cushion works correctly. If the flashing pattern does not stop, discontinue use.
If the red LED flashes five times per second:
Disconnect the charger and turn the power off. If the flashing pattern continues even after charging, discontinue use.
The cushion will not work if the battery is low, so charge it first. If the LED is flashing rapidly, see the section about a rapidly flashing LED.
