Welfare technology – making life easier for all of us
Welfare technology is an umbrella term for digital technology used to maintain or increase safety, activity, participation or independence for a person who has, or is at increased risk of developing, a disability.
Everyone can enjoy and benefit from welfare technology. We can all experience temporary barriers — such as a broken leg or reduced vision — but technology is especially important for permanent impairments or cognitive conditions that affect our abilities.
The technology can be used by the person themselves, a relative, a member of staff or someone else close to them.
